Hays Travel Limited is the UKs largest independent retailer, head quartered in Sunderland, in the North East of England. The business is multi-faceted and operates as a retail travel agency, tour operation, sells foreign currency to retail consumers, supports independent travel agencies throughout the UK and has a business travel division.

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Purchasing Department at Head Office.  This is an excellent prospect for an internal candidate looking for a move into a transactional finance environment and a chance to gain new skills.

The role will consist of processing and paying of supplier invoices and ledger management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, review (thorough checks) and record overhead supplier invoices onto finance system (Microsoft Business Central)
  • Ensure correct approval processes are followed
  • Confidently raise and deal with any queries from invoices, ensuring information on query is recorded on internal systems and followed through to the end of the process
  • Processing payment runs – ensuring payments are accurate and in line with supplier payment terms
  • Direct Debit Journals in line with bank statement reconciliation
  • Reconciliation of overhead supplier statements – dealing with any queries that may arise from statement
  • Work readily with lengthy and complex invoices requiring close attention to detail and ensuring queries are dealt with and recorded so other team members are easily able to pick up on queries
  • Analysis of aged creditor reports – ensuring vendor ledgers are up to date & aging minimised.
  • Confidently query and challenge information and documentation provided by internal and external customers (i.e expenses claims/company credit card receipts)
  • Identify & execute process improvements throughout the team
  • Reconciliation of company credit cards (expenses and overhead credit card)
  • Expenses payment run (in line with company expenses policy)
  • Continuously deliver the highest level of satisfaction and customer service to both internal and external contacts

 

Competencies Required

  • Excellent numeric and problem solving skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, particularly Excel, Word & Teams
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build strong inter-departmental relationships
  • The ability to organise and manage work load to meet strict deadlines and department KPI’s
  • Positive and enthusiastic approach
  • Work independently or as part of a team in a busy, active environment
