Job description
Role Summary
This role encompasses;
- Lead and develop a high performing team who identifies risk to the business and drives action to mitigate that risk.
- Develop a programme of Audit procedures to be performed over a 12 month period.
- Lead a team of Assistants and Team leaders to review ledgers and ensuring travel bookings and accounting records are accurate and associated reporting has financial integrity.
- Manage a team with a varied range of responsibilities ensuring a positive working environment with team members who are adequately challenged and encouraged to develop.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage workflow for the team including appropriate utilisation of the team leaders.
- Work with our risk and compliance manager and the group financial controller to develop a system to identify business risk that should be the focus of internal audit procedures.
- Present to the audit and risk committee with the findings of internal audit procedures and progress on audit matters.
- Work with support teams to highlight and monitor transactions which may indicate non-compliance with company policies.
- Ensure trading and regulatory licences are kept up to date, with regulatory submissions completed accurately and on a timely basis.
- Lead the team to ensure holiday bookings are adequately reviewed and corrected where possible.
- Be the go-to individual for compliance with Package Travel regulations and Insurance policies and procedures.
- Schedule and complete Performance Reviews and Appraisals for your team in line with company policy.
- Coach and develop the team to improve skill levels and competencies ensuring regular one to one sessions take place.
- Train new and existing staff as required ensuring all knowledge of job role is to expected standard.
- Continually review all internal processes and procedures, ensuring agreed departmental processes and procedure documents are maintained.
- Lead a team of administrators to ensure that all risk reviews are completed and accurate in line with departmental KPI’s & that actions are driven to mitigate the risk.
- Escalate emerging risks and/or identified instances of non-compliance to senior management to highlight risk to the business.
Competencies Required
- Strong coaching and people management skills
- Appetite to embrace change with the finance transformation project including learning the new system and 365 tools (such as Power BI) that will sit alongside the finance
- Excellent communication skills, high standard of literacy and email etiquette
- Strong attention to detail and good numerical and problem solving skills
- Ability to understand, identify & mitigate risk
Technical Skills Required
- High Level of Excel skills (ability to manipulate large volumes of data using V-Lookup, logical formulas and pivot tables)
- Willingness to learn and adapt to Power BI.
- Understanding of GL postings, GL Account reconciliations & ability to assess financial impact & risk.
Qualifications / Experience Required
- Experience of working in the travel industry and/or internal audit would be an advantage but not mandatory.
- Experience of leading larger high performing teams.
