Job description
Financial Reporting Accountant
As the Financial Reporting Accountant your primary responsibility will be to ensure the finance team adheres to financial control processes in place, including around month end close, completion of balance sheet reconciliations and supporting the year end process.
You will report into the Financial Reporting Manager; assisting them in providing oversight of the group balance sheet, ensuring recs are completed on time and to a good standard, and designing and implementing new processes and controls where required.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the management accounts function with month end journal preparation.
- Preparation of balance sheet recs owned by the management accounts function, ensuring the integrity of our financial figures and adherence to accounting policies.
- Statutory Accounts preparation, delivering the first draft of the statutory accounts for each entity in the group on a timely basis and to a good standard, for review by the Financial Reporting Manager.
- Assist with ongoing implementation and subsequent management of Corporation Tax outsource arrangement with KPMG.
- Responsibility for embedding and managing intangible capitalisation process.
- Preparation of quarterly VAT returns and payments.
- Keeping up to date with the latest accounting standards and designing and delivering project work as required to ensure our accounts continue to meet the standards under FRS102. For example, supporting the Financial Reporting Manager on the convergence with IFRS15 and IFRS16.
- Be a key point of contact for the external auditors, including providing supporting information as requested.
- Process documentation, with a particular focus on VAT and Corporation Tax.
Skills
- Chartered Accountant qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Experience with financial control frameworks, including advising on and/or delivering process and control improvements
- Working knowledge of VAT processes
- High level of proficiency with Excel.
- Good attention to detail.
- Strong communication & collaboration skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Ability to work independently & set own priorities
- Experience with SAGE accounts prep software useful but not essential
